January in Tokyo

In case you were starting to believe that we never spent any time actually in Tokyo I thought I'd better post some pics of what we have been up to in town.

As mentioned in a previous post, Gavin and Hayley came to visit. They were staying in a fancy hotel in Akasaka, so we had to stop by for a drink on the 35th floor.

We also went to see Kneecap! It was quite weird to be in a big room full of Japanese people singing about "Fenian Cunts". Anyway, they were great. (The flag is Venezuelan.)

One evening in Ueno.

Under the tracks by Tokyo station.

Streets around Nihonbashi.

Lunch in a very narrow, but quite tall, building.

No, not this place. I'm not sure if this sign attracts or repels me more.

Ingrid managed to get tickets for the Studio Ghibli Museum! It was great! Although reading japanese would have made it better, you are mostly looking at pictures.

This nice little bar specialises in a kind of raw, unfiltered, sake that is more like yogurt than the normal sake. Worth trying but the normal kind is definitely better!

We also went to see Autechre. The show was in complete darkness, so this photo is actually after it ended. Was good, but maybe a bit too long to be standing fixed immobile in one spot. If we'd had seats I would have enjoyed it more.

The show was in Odaiba, so we got another chance to meet this guy.

I really wasn't in town very much becasue I had to go to Osaka for work for a week, but I had some great views of Mount Fuji from the train on the way home.
