Etajima
Among the many famous sites near Hiroshima see didn't visit is the shrine island of Miyajima. Instead we went to Etajima, an island notable for nothing in particular, but the boat rie from the city was fairly short.
It was a glorious day.

The region is a major centre for oyster farming. The local oysters are much bigger and meatier than those commonly found in Europe.
We had intended to go for a run over the centre of the island but found that the road had been swept away by a landslide some time previously. So we just walked around the coast road instead. There are only two bus services a day, making a counter-clockwise circuit of the island. We used the second one to get to the start of our run, so we didn't have many options.
